Yesterday on their official website, Sentai Filmworks announced the dub cast for their upcoming release of Grimoire of Zero. Originally released in the spring of 2017, Grimoire of Zero started on the failed Anime Strike platform on Amazon before being added to HiDive later that year in December. Now, it’s getting a June 26th, 2018 home video release which includes Blu-ray and Limited Edition releases which will include a Chipboard Box, 96 Page Hardcover Booklet, and 6 Art Cards.
And now that you’re all caught up, let’s talk about who will be in the English dub!
ADR Director – Kyle Colby Jones
Mercenary – Jason Douglas
Zero – Amanda Lee
Albus – Chelsea McCurdy
Thirteen – Ian Sinclair
Holdem – David Wald
Sorena – Melissa Pritchett
Narrator – Jay Hickman
Also with – Mark X. Laskowski
If you’ve never seen the series, Sentai Filmworks describes it as:
Like most Beastfallen, the half-tiger known as Mercenary hates the witches who created them, so when he’s offered a chance to hunt witches, he quickly agrees. But things go spectacularly wrong when he’s rescued by a witch instead and she wants him to become her bodyguard! Making matters worse, she’s seeking a missing book, the Grimoire of Zero, which contains the secrets of Magic, which could possibly end the world if it falls into the wrong hands. And the author of the book? Zero herself! Worst of all, Zero actually seems to think that Mercenary is cute and cuddly, and wants to do terribly inappropriate things with him! But, if he does as she asks, Zero promises to make Mercenary human, and with that reward in mind, there isn’t much that he won’t do to help retrieve the GRIMOIRE OF ZERO!
Looking at this dub cast, it appears that Sentai Filmworks has confidence in this title. Kyle Jones is a very talented, experienced director who knows how to bring the best out of the voice talent he works with.
As for the cast, Jay Hickman as the narrator means that I have a moral obligation to watch this show and support it. Jason Douglas and Amanda Lee, as heard in the preview clip above, are very talented as well and so this could be a stellar series if the writing holds up, this could easily find its way into many personal libraries.
