My Hero Academia Gets Six New Funko Pop Figures

More MHA Funkos are headed your way!

I admit it, I came into My Hero Academia a bit late. I had originally read some of the manga and wasn’t impressed by it so when the anime was announced I dismissed it without a second thought. Eventually one of my good friends convinced me to give it a second chance and I haven’t looked back since.

Now in its third season, My Hero Academia has been one of the most popular series of the last few years. Fans from all over the globe love this superhero story which features protagonists with strong stories and villains who actually provide a real challenge for the wannabe heroes in training. There are real stakes on the line in just about every episode of this series and you can’t help but cheer for the students.

If you’re like me though, you want to see some merch coming out like yesterday! This is why I’m so glad to reveal to you that there will be a series of five My Hero Academia Funko Pop figures released in September.

The six characters who will be getting their own figures are All Might (weakened version), Todoroki, Deku, Tsuyu, and Shota Aizawa. You’ll notice in the image that there is a second Eraserhead figure shown but if you look closely you’ll see that that one is a Hot Topic exclusive.

As previously mentioned, this series is already on its third season of TV anime and has a movie on the way. The movie premieres on August 3rd, 2018 in Japan and will feature an original story that has not been seen in the manga that this series is based on. In a statement made regarding the movie, the creator said: “Of course the movie will be filled with Class A’s great efforts, that character’s past that hasn’t been in the manga yet, flashy action scenes, and much more.”

Anime-Planet describes the story as:

Izuku has dreamt of being a hero all his life—a lofty goal for anyone but especially challenging for a kid with no superpowers. That’s right, in a world where eighty percent of the population has some kind of super-powered “quirk,” Izuku was unlucky enough to be born completely normal. But that’s not going to stop him from enrolling in one of the world’s most prestigious hero academies. Now, the only thing standing between him and his first class is the academy’s formidable entrance exam—nothing a little private tutoring from the world’s mightiest hero can’t solve.
